BOOKS AND READING FOR CHILDREN

Books are an important means of learning information, exploring other worlds and developing skills. The more we encourage children to read and value books, the better their future prospects.

Children's Book week is August 19 to 25, 2006. The theme is Book Now!

The Children's Book Council of Australia aims to foster children's enjoyment of books through: Managing the Children's Book of the Year Awards, Providing information on and encouragement to authors and illustrators, Organising exhibitions and activities during Children's Book Week, Supporting children's library services and Promoting high standards in book reviewing.
