What
NOT to give Mum this
mother's day
There are gift guides and catalogues all
trying to show you the perfect gift for Mum, but some of them ignore the fact
that Mums have some pet hates for the day …
The whole point of Mothers Day is to
acknowledge and thank her for all she does for you. The best ways to do that are
to make her feel special and cherished; reminding her of her Motherly duties
won’t do it.
So the basic rules for Mothers Day gifts
are
-
Make it something for Mum, not to
help her in her role as Mum
-
Give her something she will like (not
the DVD the whole family wants – give her the soppy film everyone else hates
if it is her favourite)
-
Pamper is always appreciated! Make
Mum feel special at least one day a year.
As a favour to Mums across Australia and
the world, here is a list of real life gifts given on Mothers Day that were NOT
appreciated! This is a list your Mum doesn’t want to contribute to!
-
A potty
-
Nappies, wipes, creams and the like

A vacuum cleaner

A bike riding book (where Mum never rides but
Dad does …)

Each Mum is different, so if she
actually asks for some of these things you might risk it.
And Mums-to-be are a bit different –
baby clothes and bottles are exciting as she waits for her first Baby to arrive!
But make sure you add something just for Mum, too.
And remember – the main ingredients in
your gift must be love and thoughtfulness. That is what Mums everywhere are
wanting.
